Many of our offerings include one or more "Quizzes" for Self Assessment and Evaluation.
We wanted the quiz experience far more private, both personally and communally, from that which is currently offered by others. Important reasons for this are provided later. To do this, we created cloud spreadsheet files with quiz questions that you can use to privately test your knowledge. These can be used as Google Spreadsheets in your own drive or they can be downloaded into other standard spreadsheet formats.
We have also created a Quiz Reader Template. It is a single google sheet file that can connecting to cloud spreadsheet quizzes on the G-Drive of others or those you download to your own G-Drive. It provides a single place to take your Quizzes with a more robust self reporting functionality. it also provides an introductory lesson for networking cloud spreadsheets.
The two paragraphs below repeat what we just described with a little more detail.
When you see a link to a quiz, if you click on it, it will open a Google Sheet file in a new tab in your browser in "view only mode". (see image below)
Select "File > Make a Copy" or "File > Download As" and you can get your own copy of our quiz for your use. You then answer the questions and expose the answers to check your work. if you are a fellow curriculum creator, you could use one of our quizzes as a template for making your own. .Just have to make sure the "export page" is always formatted in a certain way if you'd like it to work with the "Quiz Reader" too.
The Quiz Reader can be opened and copied from a link below. It's a Google Sheet file. When you click on the link it will open in a browser in "view only mode". Select File > Make a Copy to get a private copy on your own Google Drive . This was designed for Google Drive only. If you want to use other systems, you will need to see if you can duplicate it. You will find it has a place to add one row of data for each quiz you want to access from the Quiz Reader. It's like adding favorites to a favorites list. You add a description of the quiz along with the URL for the quiz you want to make available via the reader. When you are ready to take a quiz, you select it from a drop down box that is populated from your private list of quizzes. The system then goes out and imports the questions and answers into your system for your use. All answers you provide and all reporting on your answers are in your template only. NOTE: This can be used to access Quizzes that are the Google Driver others and/or you can save copies of those quizzes to your own google drive and then reference them from within your google drive.
There are advantages and disadvantages to this type of approach to Quiz Delivery. Please see our Instructions document link a the top of the page for more dialogue about this system.
